New Survey Finds Enterprise Customers Looking to Dell for End-to-End Solutions
ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Two-thirds of current or potential Hewlett-Packard (HP) customers with more than 500 employees are concerned by HP’s changes in business strategy and leadership, according to a recent survey commissioned by Dell and conducted by IDG Research Services. Respondents indicated that Dell would be the largest beneficiary if HP discontinues its PC business. Of the respondents who stated they would consider alternatives for their PC purchases, 79 percent listed Dell as their top choice. Additionally, nearly half of the respondents (45 percent) believe it is important for their technology vendors to offer complete, end-to-end solutions.
“This research confirms what we have been hearing from global IT leaders since August -- uncertainty remains and many HP customers are looking to Dell,” said Tim Mattox, vice president of Enterprise Product Marketing at Dell. “In an environment where end-user computing is transforming, Dell continues to stay committed to its long-term strategy of innovation and investment in end-to-end solutions.”
Additional Key Findings:
- 64 percent of respondents are concerned by HP’s announced changes in strategy and/or leadership
- 49 percent of respondents are considering new or additional PC vendors as a result of reports of HP’s recent activities in the media
- 41 percent of respondents are reconsidering alternative vendors for servers, with 64 percent of those respondents considering Dell, again topping the list among all server vendors
More Information:
- A recent study from industry analyst firm Technology Business Research, found customers overwhelmingly believe HP lost its way when suggesting it would exit the PC business

Survey Methodology
In October 2011, Dell commissioned IDG Research Services to field a survey of current or potential HP customers on the topic of measuring sentiment and reaction to HP’s announcements regarding the discontinuation of HP’s webOS-based Touchpad tablet and Veer Smartphone mobile devices, exploring alternatives for its Personal Systems Group through restructuring or spinning off its PC business, executive leadership changes and the Autonomy acquisition. A total of 302 respondents working at companies with more than 500 employees completed the survey. For more information on IDG Research Services, please visit: www.idgresearch.com.
