Dell Perot Systems Awarded Department of Transportation Technology Services Contract Worth More Than $65 Million

ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Dell today announced that its Fairfax, Virginia-based Dell Perot Systems Government Services Unit has won an IT services contract worth more than $65 million as a subcontractor to ActioNet, Inc., a small business providing information systems solutions to the federal government and industry clients.

The contract supports the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Common Operating Environment (COE) and is for service delivery over 10 years. Acquired by Dell, Perot Systems has been providing DOT with IT services since October 2004. Under the new contract, the company will provide several services, including seat and e-mail management, infrastructure services, hosting services, and program management. The company will also support DOT's strategic plan to extend COE to field locations.

The Department of Transportation has been transforming its information technology services to a Common Operating Environment (COE). A key objective of the new contract is to further consolidate DOT's enterprise information technology environment by transitioning field offices into the COE. Key goals of consolidation include: increasing the stability, consistency and security of IT services while lowering total cost of ownership by reducing redundancy, and applying standardization and process maturity.

Successful implementation of the COE contract will enable DOT to provide and support an infrastructure that meets DOT's Enterprise IT requirements and improves end-user services, response times, and overall performance.
